As part of the AVACLIM project's advocacy activities, the Ethiopian partner ISD (Institute for Sustainable Development) has developed a position paper to promote the development of agroecology in Ethiopia. This paper, based on ISD's experience in its multiple projects, as well as on the characterisation and evaluation of AVACLIM's agroecological initiatives.

Through this document, essential support is requested from the authorities:
- Governments should conduct and share studies on the benefits of diversification and on ecological practices.
- Governments should facilitate the acquisition and use of land for family farming and develop agroecological experimental fields.
- Governments should facilitate the acquisition and use of land for family farming and develop agroecological experimental fields.
- Governments should financially support the agroecological transition, access to material resources and banking services.
This position paper was shared with officials, civil society members and scientists at an event organised during the Ethiopia Green Action Forum* held in the "South Wello" region in early October 2022, with the theme "Transition to Organic Agriculture".

* The Green Action Forum is a global campaign that has been launched to promote sustainable consumption worldwide. It aims to broaden the understanding of ecological organic agriculture among policy makers, researchers and the general public. More than 50 civil society groups in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America have been participating since 2013. In Ethiopia, the Institute for Sustainable Development has organised the event since 2013.
